Twitter has evolved as a business tool, and in some very real ways it gets more respect than Facebook.

If you are an expert and in business, then you need a presence at this perennial number two social site. You have to have a Twitter at some point. You need to open one if you have not already.

Most people have an account with Twitter, but may not use it because they don’t understand why they should use it to begin with. There are not a lot of rules neatly packaged for you to understand to get the hang of Twitter right away.

Promote your business

It is one of the best ways to get your business brand noticed on the market when using Twitter these days. You might want to throw a big bash for potential clients, or go to where one is to get noticed.

Once you are there, you should tweet about all the events as they are happening real-time. But you have to be careful because you will be inundating your followers with tweets. You could then tell people what you’re going to do to bypass all of this tweeting. So before you do this, you can tell everyone what is happening a week in advance if possible.

This way you could tell them that you will be tweeting quite a bit so they know what is happening. We might want to take that what we have to say is important. It is common for most people to do this.

This is no less true when you are at Twitter and engaging in conversation. Engaging with people that try to communicate with you is very important.

Every business that you participate in must require you to follow a few obligations and responsibilities related to the business.

Customer service, especially when using Twitter, can be extremely crucial to your business. Responding to people in a reasonable amount of time is important. And if they have questions, you need to reply as soon as you can.

Tweet your Business

Keeping your followers interested in your tweets is something that you need to do. Market or business that you are in, you should tell them about it. This will keep them interested in what you have to say. Google trends is a great way to accomplish this. You should really try this out if you haven’t before.

It is very simple to use to keep track of your business each day. You can become the go to person for your followers. They will always ask you what is going on. So when people need this information, turn to Google Alerts and Trends for the latest info in these areas.

By doing this, you can use news topics that you choose in this area. And as you do this, you will be able to tweet to your audience every step of the way.

It’s safe to say that many people and businesses make their Twitter experience far more complicated than it needs to be. Anyone that is new to Twitter may find it overwhelming at the very least.

Twitter really can help your business by just using it a few times a week, a few minutes a day. Just learn how to use it, and your business will blossom.

What are SEO and SEM? http://kloudseo.com/seo-and-sem/ http://kloudseo.com/seo-and-sem/#comments Fri, 09 Nov 2012 16:38:26 +0000 Bharath http://kloudseo.com/?p=191 SEO is search engine optimization, and SEM is search engine marketing.

That by itself doesn’t tell you very much about the differences in the two things, or how to use them in your marketing campaigns.

Search Engine Optimization

Search engine optimization is the use of certain techniques to attract search engine spiders to your website, web page, articles, blog posts, or other content.

These spiders index your content to the various search engines, and a higher rating usually equals higher placement on the search engine result pages.

SEO can be loosely defined as a group of techniques that are used to attract search engine crawlers to your content.  The most important SEO technique is simply well-written content, but there are other tools that you can use to make sure your web pages are as fully SEO optimized as possible.  These tools include duplicate content detection software, search engine simulators, and tags.

Duplicate content detection software can find copied content and alert you to remove it. There are both paid versions of this software (such as Copyscape) and free versions (such as Plagium). Search engine simulators display your pages in exactly the same way that the search engine spider will see them. This is important because the spider normally won’t see flash, images, or javascript.

Tags are words that relate to the content of your document. For example, the tags that could be used for this article include SEO, SEM, search engine optimization, search engine marketing, Google Adwords, Yahoo Overture, etc.  Now if I throw in an unrelated word such as duck hunting, you would probably think that I’d lost my mind. In addition, when the tags are used to index your content, I would get a lot of searchers saying “I was looking for duck hunting and got THIS?”

Search Engine Marketing

When the term search engine marketing is used, it is generally referring to the text advertisements that can appear at the top of search engine results pages; these advertisements may also appear on the right hand side of search engine results pages. These are links that are actually purchased on a PPC (pay per click) basis.  PPC means that you pay for each click on your ad, whether they purchase anything or not.

If you’ve purchased your PPC ads from Google, the price will be determined by several factors. Two of these factors are the top bid price and the click through rate.  If you have a relatively low click through rate, you’ll be paying more for your ads.  This is because Google believes that relevant ads are those with a higher click through rate, and that the higher click through rate should be rewarded with better rankings as well as lower prices.

In Yahoo’s Overture system, ad rankings are based solely on the bid prices.  In theory, this means that the person or company who bids the most wins the top search engine spot.

seo vs sem

However, the top spot or even the second spot may not be the most desirable spot to have anyway.  Results that are placed anywhere from the number three spot to the number five spot seem to be the optimal positions, mostly because the click rate costs you less.

This is also true because many surfers have already checked out the top two results which are presumably your competition.  They’ve arrived at your slightly lower-ranked ad because they are interested in your prices or comparing your products, goods, and services with those of your competition.

What is Twitter SEO? http://kloudseo.com/twitter-seo/ http://kloudseo.com/twitter-seo/#comments Wed, 07 Nov 2012 14:57:51 +0000 Bharath http://kloudseo.com/?p=176 The two questions you might have are what Twitter is and what is SEO?

Twitter is a social media site that allows you to tweet short status updates (limit of 140 characters including spaces) to people who follow you.

SEO is short for search engine optimization, and refers to the practice of using certain techniques when writing articles or blog posts or otherwise creating content for your websites or web pages.

These techniques are used to attract the attention of search engine crawlers (also known as spiders).

These search engine crawlers ‘crawl’ your page for relevant content and links, and what they find (if you’ve done it right) will rank your pages, articles, blog posts, or content higher in reputable search engine results.

How to Use Twitter Effectively in Your SEO Campaigns

twitter seo

Twitter SEO involves branding, or making sure that your content is recognized as being uniquely yours.  Your first step in branding yourself on Twitter should be a unique (but not cutesy or X-rated) username.

Your username should reflect the goods or services that your company provides. The people who follow you may retweet your tweets to people who’ve never heard of you, so those third parties need to be able to quickly figure out what you’re offering them.

The next step in using Twitter in your SEO campaign is to link your website to your Twitter profile. Make your Twitter bio relevant to your website, and point the link(s) to relevant pages of your website that may lead to higher conversions (sales, click throughs, downloads, or whatever action you’d like your visitors to take)

Add relevant links to your Twitter posts.  This is particularly helpful now that Google is displaying tweets on SERPS (search engine results pages).  Adding a relevant link to a Twitter post can give you a wider audience for your website than just your Twitter followers.

Use Hash Tags in your tweets.  Hash Tags are a Twitter feature that works by organizing your information; they also help determine what is trending (aka hot) on Twitter.

If you mention other Twitter users in your tweets, be sure to add a @ before their username. The @ effectively acts like a retweet without the work of actually retweeting.  While we’re talking about retweeting, another technique to use is to retweet the relevant tweets of other users in your niche. This allows you to help others and gives your followers a choice of links to view.

Spread your tweets out throughout the day or week.  Tweeting all of your content at the same time or in rapid sequence will irritate your followers, and irritated followers may choose to unfollow you.  In addition, the important parts of your messages will get lost if you tweet repeatedly within a short time.

Tweet your blog if you have one.  Your blog is where you can give your followers more information about the tweets you are sending. Add a Twitter button to your blog, articles, or websites as well.

Ten Tactics to Stand Out From the Twitter Crowd http://kloudseo.com/ten-tactics-to-stand-out-from-the-twitter-crowd/ http://kloudseo.com/ten-tactics-to-stand-out-from-the-twitter-crowd/#comments Sun, 16 Sep 2012 18:10:19 +0000 Bharath http://kloudseo.com/?p=101 1)      The first thing you need to do is create a professional profile. Make sure that some personality comes through though.  You can use a good-looking photo of yourself, or a slightly unusual username. Don’t use underscores or weird symbols in your username; you want a username that will be easily recognized by your followers and other Twitter users.

2)      You want to stand out from the other people who are using Twitter.  For example, if everyone else is using the full 140 words, why not consider tweeting shorter messages? A short tweet in the middle of a bunch of longer ones is going to stand out from the crowd simply because you’re doing something different.

3)      Another tactic to use is an indirect mention.  This is good when you’re trying to get noticed by someone else, and what it entails is mentioning something they’ve written or said in your tweet. Make sure that your post talks about their words or accomplishments in an unusual way so that it will grab their attention.

4)      Asking for help is a great way to get attention.  Now, don’t make up reasons to ask for help; you really need to have a valid need for assistance.  When you ask for help, ask for a retweet.  Your followers or other Twitter users might not be able to help you, but they might know someone who can.

5)      Help others. This is the other side of the coin for tip four; if you get a reputation for helping others you’ll get more attention.  In addition, set up an alert so you’ll know when people need help.

6)      Go away from Twitter for a while; listen to the things around you in real life. You can also do something based on something else that was tweeted by someone else, and then come to Twitter and tweet about it, link to it, share it.  You might even get a retweet of what you said or what you linked to.

7)      Be consistent. If you’re going to use Twitter, use it regularly so that people get used to seeing your username and reading your tweets.  If you are creating good content, people will notice that.  They’ll retweet your content, they’ll make comments about it, and you’ll get noticed

8)      Outside of Twitter, find a chat that’s active such as SEO Chat or PPC Chat. Go hang out there, ask questions, and just chat with people who are interested in the same things you’re interested.  Other people will notice that you’re part of the SEO community or the PPC community (or both) and they might even look for you on Twitter.

9)      Use hashtags at live events in your field.  For example, if you’re at a live event such as Affiliate Summit and you know you’re one of only a few SEO people there, you can tweet something like this “Hey, if you need help with SEO, come find me” along with the hashtag for Affiliate Summit.

10)  If you’ve got followers that are being watched by someone you’d like to get close to (in the PPC world or SEO world), they may retweet your content and the people who are watching may see it.  For example, you want your content to be noticed by Jon Olson, find out who follows him (maybe Justin Ledvina) that also follows you.  Tweet something that will draw the attention of the person following you (Justin in this example); if they retweet it, Jon Olson will see it.
